Our guests are invited to bring their own period-style picnic lunch and to make their picnic site look as period as possible (Please note that the event is not a potluck. Our hard-working catering staff will be taking a well-deserved holiday!).
Suggested costume for the event
is late 18th century or Regency summer afternoon dress
(1780-1818),
but, as usual, costumes are admired, not required. To protect
your
complexion, hats or bonnets, parasols, and sunscreen are highly
recommended,
and you may even want to bring a shawl to protect you against the
changeable
climate of beautiful
After the luncheon, the
always elegant
Bangers & Mash will play an afternoon of late 18th
century and early 19th century waltzes and English country
dances
for your dancing pleasure, including the perennially popular Congress
of Vienna
Waltz and Sir Roger de Coverley. As usual, all country dances and set
dances
will be briefly taught or called.
